Exemption Procedures
For Colorado organizations application must be made using form DR 0715
Colorado Application for Sales Tax Exemption
A Certificate of Exemption will be issued if approved for Exempt status
Both the state sales and county lodging taxes are waived for out of state,
tax exempt institutions.
Purchases must be paid for with a check or credit card in the name of
the exempt organization.

The State of Colorado allows out of state tax exempt organizations to use
the exemption certificate of their
home state taxing authority when doing business with Colorado vendors.
No advance notice is required by the Colorado Department of Revenue, nor
is there a form that needs to be filled out.

Hotel
Instructions
- Network Hotels:
Participating 501(c)(3) institutions will be pre-enrolled at all CTM
Network
hotels for purposes of sales tax waiver. Should traveler lose or forget
tax exempt documentation,
CTM back-up copies will be available.
- Out-of-Network
Hotels: Participating 501(c)(3) institutions will not be enrolled at
Out-of Network hotels.
Should traveler lose or forget tax exempt documentation, CTM cannot
guarantee waiver of sales tax.
