Southwest Airlines

  Corporate Credit for Unused Tickets
  • Unused travel funds are held for each individual for future travel for one year from the original date of purchase. Prior to Jan 28, 2011, this credit was in the name of the institution, and could be used to purchase travel for any person, even someone traveling to a different destination.

  • Beginning January 28, 2011 however, Southwest will no longer allow unused travel funds to be applied toward another passengers reservation. Any outstanding credits, after this date, can only be used by the person whose name is on the ticket.
  • An exception is where a year has passed from original date of purchase, and the credit has expired.  If this occurs, the institution may claim the unused funds, pay a $50 fee, and receive a new credit, good for one year, which will then be under the name of the institution, and good for any traveler flying to any destination.
